way too much power over management. If I ruled the world I would tell them to go ahead and strike I'll hire non union employees and pay their moving costs to move here or I'll start setting up shop in "right to work" states without unions. Those tons of cars you speak of are all manufactured in Southern States without unions controlling management.
Unions have companies by the balls everywhere. Too many times I have heard "We can't fire that useless sack of crap because he is a union worker."
"GM made shit for a long time"...yeah in the 70's and 80's. 90's and 2000's have been much better in quality.
